In the peak of the monsoon, Nagari films were screened at Arthshila, Goa, highlighting how narratives of urban India are deeply intertwined with water, its scarcity, conservation, equitable distribution, economic significance, contamination, disaster management, and its role as an urban commons and site of public intervention.

The screening was followed by a panel discussion with Shruti Parthasarathy and Vikash Tiwari (filmmakers of ‘Samayada Harivu’) and moderated by our Senior Fellow Ashmita Gupta, where the conversation delved into their process of making an urban documentary. The filmmakers also conducted a two-day workshop introducing participants to the fundamentals of filmmaking, the how, what, and why.

As part of the Nagari initiative, these films use storytelling to spark public interest, encourage critical dialogue, and inspire collective action. We invite institutions, universities, and organisations to host screenings and discussions around the films and the issues.
