ABOUT NAGARI
An initiative of the Charles Correa Foundation, Nagari is an annual short film competition curated to develop 7-minute short films to understand urban dynamics and crises in the Indian context. Nagari Films serves as a form of visual documentation of contemporary Indian urbanism. The thematic collection of films becomes an archive of how Indian cities are being lived, contested, and transformed in the early twenty-first century.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

AWARENESS
Nagari films use storytelling to make urban issues more accessible to diverse audiences. By capturing everyday life, they help raise awareness about city realities.

BIOSCOPE FOR THE CITY
More than just capturing urban realities in India, Nagari films serve as a mirror reflecting the present. Spanning over 24 cities, they form an archive of our current urban realities.

URBAN DISCOURSE
Nagari uses film to spark dialogue on improving living conditions and bring social and economic equity in urban spaces. Through screenings and discussions, it inspires public engagement and collective action.
FILMS BY CORREA
Charles Correa loved films. He often said that films and toy trains led him to become an architect and an urbanist. Aside from the four films in his filmography, films and filmmaking have always fascinated Charles. In fact, he sees clear creative links between filmmaking and architecture. An initiative of the Charles Correa Foundation, Nagari takes on this ethos and builds a repository of our current urban conditions.
