Sameera Jain is a film editor, director and educator. She has an interest in structuring pedagogic practice which pushes boundaries of the documentary form and interrogates accepted codes around it. She directed the Creative Documentary Course (2013-23) SACAC, New Delhi. She employs methods that link theory with practice and prioritises personalised mentoring in addition to group lectures and participatory workshops.
Her work has addressed craft and craftspeople; indigenous medicine and health practices; belonging, the gendering of space; and a cinematic celebration of words and poetry. As an
editor, she has worked with themes of ecology, politics, human rights, sexuality, and feminism among others. She has formulated curricula, written about non-fiction cinema, conducted master classes, and spoken at various forums.
